News from the Board: Parents Call to Action

PIC Icon

With all the "gloom and doom" coming out of Washington, DC, re the need to reduce federal spending - including potentially cutting education funding it is ever more important that New Hampshire families take a more proactive role in being more engaged in the academic success of their children. The adverse "cost" when parents are not involved with helping their children succeed in the classroom is incalculable. If you are a parent, now is not the time to stand on the sidelines. This is a "call to action" - for both mothers and fathers to get more actively involved and fully engaged with helping your kids be successful - both in and outside school. Read more and learn how you can become involved here.

IEP Back to School Basics

The new school year is an exciting time but it also brings change - new teachers, new case manager, and new experiences. This means that it can be a challenging time for both you and your child.  In the weeks before school begins, take the time to organize your child's school records and review his/her Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to be sure it is current and that you are familiar with the contents. As the school year goes on you will be able to use the IEP to help monitor your child's progress, assure that required services are provided and bring any concerns to the attention of the Case Manager.

Read more about how to get off to the right start here.
