Building Partnerships

Research shows that when families, educators, and community members form partnerships children are more likely to succeed. Parents, educators and community members come together as equals, sharing knowledge and respect in forming a partnership. Each member of the partnership has a set of tools, strengths and qualities to contribute.

Schools should be places where families feel welcome and valued. Today parental involvement is seen as an essential part of education. Parental involvement can take many forms including involvement in PTA/PTO, developing a working relationship with teachers, support and mentoring with homework, or reading with a child.

The Parent Information Center is a recognized leader in building strong family/school partnerships.
