EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR SERVICES
The LEA must provide extended school year (ESY) services to any child with disabilities who qualifies.
To be eligible for ESY services, it must be determined that the child would suffer harm or serious regression if they had a break in the school year.
ESY services may involve a change in:
-
the services.
-
where the program is provided,
-
the number of hours, days and/or weeks of the program, and
-
the IEP goals/objectives to be addressed
Specific ESY services are determined on an individual basis by the child’s IEP team as necessary for the child to receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education. ESY services are also not limited to the summer months.
