Volunteer Opportunities at the Parent Information Center
The Parent Information Center always welcomes the efforts of volunteers, whether it is helping us prepare for a conference in the main office, helping parents support reading or study habits in their children, or becoming a special education volunteer advocate. Call us today to learn more about how you can PIC support NH families.
Let's Read Together -- The Early Literacy Volunteer Program
You don’t have to be an expert, just share your time and love of reading with others. A successful volunteer is friendly, flexible, and willing to learn. We provide all of the training, and all materials needed for workshops free of charge, including free books, CDs, and DVDs to give away to parents. You will receive a stipend and expense reimbursement for the workshops you provide (as few as two as many as you like!)
Of course you’ll also reap the benefits and satisfaction that comes from sharing the love of literacy plus lots of “thanks you’s” from NH parents and children and from NH State PIRC staff.
To learn more about volunteering, visit this NH PIRC web page, or contact NH PIRC’s Training and Volunteer Coordinator Kimm Phillips, (603) 848-5446.

The Special Education Volunteer Advocate Program
Over the last 30 years, PIC has trained over 600 Volunteer Advocates. PIC on Special Education’s Volunteer Advocate (VA) training program is a free 45-hour course for parents and others who want to gain the knowledge and skills to support parents of children with disabilities in the special education process. This training is offered twice a year at various locations across the state. Professionals are welcome to attend the program for their own professional development for a nominal fee.
Visit http://www.nhspecialed.org/VAtraining.shtml for more information on the VA Training Program and to download an application.
