Evaluation of parent

Our son is being re-evaluated by the district (IDEA). Without going into many details, he is currently identified with an emotional disturbance (RAD).

The district proposes an evaluation by a physiatrist. Among the rating scales that we are asked to complete are scales that solely focus on us (the parents). Rating scales that probe into our relationship with our parents and rating scales that are designed to assess our mental health. These scales do not include any questions about our child.

There are other scales that focus on the child. We have no objections to those.

Does the school district have the right to do this? If so, under what law/rule. If not, is there a rule or law preventing this or any caselaw.

Thanks,
- Mike
