There are two free presentations that parents of special education children and those with IEPs would be very interested in.
1. 2/16/05 Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004. What Families, Schools & Communities Need to Know. IDEA '97 to IDEA '04 changes. First presentation is from 1:00 to 4:30 and the second presentation is from 5:30 to 9:00. It will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 274 Pleasant St. in Concord. 2. 3/8/05 Smart Advocating: Asserting Your Rights In Special Education Meetings Without Burning Bridges (with the school or the district). This presentation will be held in the Rich Room at Franklin Pierce Law Center, 2 White St, Concord, from 6-8 pm. Will cover basic parental rights, strategies for effective advocacy from various prespectives, and there will be a mock meeting where you will see some of these strategies in action.
